Botox
Smooth unwanted wrinkles and lines
Lines and wrinkles are a natural part of aging, but they can often affect how we feel about ourselves. If the signs of aging skin affect your confidence and you’d like a little help to feel your best self again, you’d likely benefit from botox.
Botox is a minimally invasive treatment, given via injection and used commonly to smooth the forehead, crows feet and in between the eyes. It’s often also used for areas around the mouth, to tackle fine lines and lift the corners.
Botox
What to expect
As you lie on our comfortable treatment bed, our friendly Aesthetician will explain the process to you and answer any questions that you may have. If you would like to be numb for the procedure, we’ll apply a numbing cream to the area that is to be injected, which will significantly reduce any pain felt.
A botox appointment will typically take no more than 15 minutes and you can expect to see results within 3-7 days. The effects of botox usually last up to 14 weeks, but some lucky people do experience longer results.
Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
Excessive sweating, be it in the underarm area, the hands or even the feet, can be annoying and embarrassing but there are a number of potential solutions available to counter this stubborn problem.
How can Hyperhidrosis be treated?
As a first step, we always advise that you wear loose fitting clothes made of natural fibres and use a good quality antiperspirant, containing aluminium chloride, or something similar.
Failing this there are a number of other ways to treat Hyperhidrosis including anticholinergic medications (these can cause unpleasant systemic side effects) and botox.
We offer botox injections as a temporary solution to hyperhidrosis. Botox injections can temporarily reduce the chemical that helps the nerve supply to the sweat glands. A number of precisely placed injections will help to significantly reduce sweating for between 3 and 6 months, plus the effects can be enhanced by using an antiperspirant.
Side effects are minimal and there may be some swelling or soreness around the site of the injection, but this is short lived. Accuracy is the key to ensuring that the treatment is effective with minimal side effects.
Migraine Treatment with Botox
Migraine is an affliction characterised by the brain producing an overreaction to a sensory trigger, resulting in its electrical system (mis)firing on all cylinders. This electrical activity then causes a change in blood flow to the brain, which in turn affects the brain’s nerves, causing pain.
These sensory triggers vary, depending on the individual and include stress, food, hormones, sounds, light or even smell.
How can migraines be treated?
There are a variety of natural and medicinal treatments for migraines and it is now widely accepted that Botox can play a significant part in helping to diminish or even stop the pain associated with the condition. This is achieved by injecting botox into very specific areas in the forehead, temples and at the base of the neck to block chemicals called neurotransmitters that carry pain signals from your brain. Botox is thus like a roadblock stopping the chemicals before they get to the nerve endings around your head.
Much like cosmetic botox, it lasts for 12-14 weeks before requiring a top up and the usual post injection parameters apply:
- Do not rub or massage the treated area
- Do not exercise or take part in strenuous activity for the next 12 hours.
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption for the next 24 hours.
As with any botox treatment, success is related the accuracy of the injection placements and it may be necessary to combine it with an additional medical or naturalregime to get the maximum benefit.

Side effects are very rare. While there are occasionally some pinpricks and bruising afterwards, this will be minimised by your clinician with cold compresses immediately before your treatment. An arnica cream can also be used after treatment if necessary, which prevents pain and bruising.
No, botox isn’t just used for cosmetic purposes. It can also be used to treat chronic migraines, an overactive bladder and excessive sweating.
